Facts
The granite lobby opens to two stories at the three building entrances.
One of the largest buildings in Chicago, covering half of a city block with no setbacks. The building forms a towering backdrop behind the older buildings of the Michigan Avenue streetwall.
The building is located within a block of the Art Institute, Orchestra Hall, and the State Street shopping district.
The lobby allows public passage between Monroe and Adams Streets, and features landscaping and large modern paintings.
This development was originally planned as two 40-story black glass towers.
The upper 15 stories are being converted to condominiums in a development named The Park Monroe. This section will be reclad, and balconies will be added.
