Features and Amenities
One of the city's famous buildings
Facts
Marking the northwest corner of Chicago's "Loop", the curved wall of green glass follows a bend in the Chicago River.
One of the most popular all-glass skyscrapers in the world, the design made architects Kohn Pedersen Fox famous.
In posters for the film "The Truman Show", the curved wall was portrayed in a photomontage as a giant television screen.
The building is exactly 301 feet wide, from one end of the curve to the other in a straight line.
A nine-panel mural, the largest painting ever by artist Jim Dine, was commissioned in 1985 by the Nuveen Company for its headquarters on the 33rd floor.
The offices of the building's developer feature a large bronze sculpture by Richard Hunt called "Organic Construction".
The architects were recognized with an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects in 1984.
This building was the first skyscraper designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates PC, who have gone on to become one of the world's best known designers of tall buildings.
The building is flanked on both sides by office towers by the same architects: 225 West Wacker to the left, and 191 North Wacker to the right.
The base is serrated on the south and east sides; this created a major engineering problem since the columns couldn't meet the edge of the building squarely.
