Besides being a regional headquarters for Canada Trust Corporation, the building also houses Alberta Energy Corporation, a major oil & gas company. |
The Canada Trust Tower replaced the T. Eaton's department store, a fixture on this block for over 60 years (originally built in 1929, torn down in the late 1980's). Parts of the original store facade were incorporated in the Holt Renfrew store design. |
On March 31, 2005, a man base-jumped off the roof while trying to pull off a stunt. Wind gusts caused him to crash into a window on the 24th floor, causing him to fall uncontrollably into the atrium on the fifth floor. He survived. |
