Built as the telecommunications tower of the Deutsche Bundespost (German Federal Mail), the Heinrich-Hertz-Turm is also used by the NDR (North German Broadcasting) for radio broadcasts and by the private television companies Sat1 and RTL.
The revolving floor rotates once every 55 minutes.

The Fernsehturm is the tallest structure in Hamburg.
